Hendrix College Athletics

Auburn Smith, class of 1939, lettered four years in football and two in basketball. He played quarterback during his tenure at Hendrix. He coached at Morrilton and Camden High Schools before serving in the Air Force during World War II. He later coached at Southern Arkansas for 31 years, including 15 as head football coach. He later served as the athletic director at the institution.
