Gillian Greshowak Piro grew up in Austin, Texas, and was recruited to Hendrix College by swimming and diving coaches Jim Kelly and Mike Bailey.
Under their tutelage, Piro was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Diver of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and the Arkansas NCAA Division III Diver of the Year 2003 and 2004. She won the SCAC 1-meter diving championship in 2003 and both the 1-meter and 3-meter championships in 2004 and 2005.
She was named the 2006 Hendrix College Co-Woman of the Year and was a CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team selection in 2006. Piro was also named to the SCAC 15th Anniversary Women’s Swimming & Diving Team.
Piro graduated from Hendrix College, summa cum laude, with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology in 2006. She pursued her medical education at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She received support from the NCAA postgraduate scholarship program from 2006-2007, graduated from medical school in 2010, and completed her residency in pediatrics in 2013.
Since that time, she has moved with her husband, Kevin, to Portland, Oregon, where she works as a pediatrician. The Piros are proud parents to Nolan who was born in early 2016.
