Kim “Kiwi” Stevenson (Class of 1977) of Rotorua, New Zealand, was an outstanding distance runner and four-year letterman in cross country and track for the Warriors and a member of the Hendrix team that finished third at the AIC Championship in 1973. He was named All-AIC in cross country in 1973 and 1977, served as team captain in 1975-76 and qualified for two NAIA National Cross Country Championships. A qualifier for two NAIA National Track and Field Championships, Stevenson placed in the top 16 in the 880 and set a new Hendrix record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:54.7. Other top performances in track included the 880 yard run (1:54.2), 1 mile run (4:13.6), and 2 mile run (9:40). Following his graduation from Hendrix, Stevenson continued a successful running career and coaching career in his native New Zealand including track, cross country teams from under 20 age groups to masters levels, claiming 10 New Zealand titles and serving as manager of the New Zealand team that went to the World Duathlon Championship in 2009.
