Lawson Pilgrim, class of ’81, came to Hendrix after playing one year at the University of Arkansas. As a three-year Warrior letterman, he led Hendrix to AIC championships in 1980 and 1981; he was All-AIC and All-District 17 NAIA both years. In 1980, he was on the 2nd team NAIA and in 1981, was on the NAIA’s first team, the only Hendrix basketball player ever to be named an All-American. After graduation, Pilgrim continued his interest in basketball, playing for Athletes in Action and being recognized as one of the most outstanding amateur basketball players in the U.S.
