Every once and a while in a coach’s life, a great player comes along. According to Coach Harold Henderson, J.D. Prichard was that player. Prichard established a school record with 66 wins and a winning percentage of .830. Not only did he letter in all four years at Hendrix, but he also received the Carl Babcock Award, an honor selected by the coaches for a senior who has displayed integrity, athletic skill, and leadership. His teammates attested to his leadership qualities, and considered him a mentor who helped those around him improve.
Prichard’s skills on the tennis court earned him the number one ranking in conference singles and doubles. The coaches in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named him an All-Conference player four years in a row. He also excelled in the classroom, prompting his four-time selection as an SCAC All-Academic performer.
Major J.D. Prichard serves his country in the Army Medical Corps as a Doctor of Pathology. Currently stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he is living proof of the saying, “Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.”
