Hendrix College Athletics

Margaret Henig Blackburn, class of '26, the late Margaret Henig Blackurn was one of the best all around female athletes at Hendrix College from her era. She participated in basketball for four years and in track for three years. As a first year member of the girls’ basketball team, Margaret was described by the 1923 yearbook as “fast learning the fine points of the game and the most promising member of the squad.” She was captain of the team her senior year under Coach Ivan Grove, playing both guard and forward, and was considered the team’s best defensive player.
