Rollie Richardson ('72) of Little Rock, Ark., was a four year basketball and track letterman and the first African-American to receive an athletic scholarship to play basketball for the Warriors. He was a 6-5 forward who was one of the best rebounders in the AIC. Richardson was named All-AIC Honorable Mention as a junior and served as team captain his senior year. In track he was an outstanding performer who set or tied school records in the 100 (tied at 9.7), 220 (21.5), the high jump (6-feet, 4-inches), as a member of the 440 relay team (41.6), and the 880 relay team (1:27.9). He is the current record holder in four of those events including the 100 (co-record holder), 220, and 440 and 880 relays.
