Vance Strange, class of ’63, has given much of his time and resources to promote Hendrix College athletics, the Warrior Booster Club and athletics in the state of Arkansas. He was instrumental in the reorganization of the Booster Club and in the creation of the Sports Hall of Honor and served as president of the board. After college, Strange had a successful coaching career from junior high through the college level including stints at Conway Junior High School, Hendrix, State College of Arkansas (UCA), Henderson State University and Austin College. He was a multi-sport coach in football, track and field, cross country, basketball, swimming, soccer and baseball. He served as past president of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, past president of the Major Sports Assn. of the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Arkansas Chapter of the U.S. Amateur Athletic Union and past national chairman of the AAU Junior Olympic program.
