Hendrix College Athletics

William Dunaway, class of ’30, earned four letters in each for the Hendrix Bulldogs/Warriors in basketball, baseball, and tennis, in which he was state singles champion twice and state doubles champion once. After graduation, he was an outstanding high school and college football official and was the coach of the Lewis & Norwood Flyers, national AAU women’s basketball champions in 1939, 1940, and 1941. In 1969, Dunaway was inducted to the Helms Foundation National AAU Hall of Fame for his coaching of women’s basketball.

Dunaway is also a member of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame and the Wampus Cats Hall of Fame.
