Women – Sophomore Laela Zaidi went 2-0 in #4 singles and 1-1 in #2 doubles against Southern Athletic Association competition over the weekend. Zaidi, from Joplin, Mo., defeated Birmingham-Southern’s Mary Evelyn Carroll 6-3, 0-6, 7-5 on Saturday and Millsaps’ Mary Claiborne-Sharpe 4-6, 7-5, 10-3 on Sunday. In doubles, she teamed with Pratheepa Ravikumar and lost to BSC’s McKenzie Courtney and Isabella Wisener 8-3, but rebounded to defeat Jordyn Kanak and Reya Hayek of Millsaps 8-5. Zaidi finished the regular season 11-6 in singles and 10-5 in doubles with Ravikumar.
