Sophomore Betsy Kelly represented the United States while playing for the USA Athletes International field hockey team in Barbados in July.
USAAI works to find tournaments that “create the best athlete experience with a balance between competition and the cultural benefits of the experience.”
Kelly, a goalkeeper from Houston, Texas, along with fellow Warrior Jennifer Koller, spent eight days in the South American Country with 15 other student-athletes from NCAA Division II and III programs.
USAAI played four games against Barbados' U21 National Team, with the Americans going 1-2-1 against the home squad on the Bajan Friendship Tour. All of the contests were played at the Barbados Olympic Center on turf field.
Besides competing, Koller and Kelly experienced West Indian culture first hand. They toured the island and spent time snorkeling, scuba diving and learning about Bajan customs.
