DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team looked to upset Southern Athletic Association foe Centre College on Saturday, but came away with a 15-8 loss to their conference opponent.
Gabryele Pochron made 16 saves in net, but it wasn't enough to keep out the Colonels as the goalkeeper took the loss in net. Pochron also came away with a pair of caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.
Sybil Watkins recorded two caused turnovers as well.
Reilly Frazier and
Shelby Hill each scooped a pair of ground balls for the Warriors.Â
Bridget Umble led the Warrior offense with four goals, while
Raychl Reger finished with two. Hill notched a goal and
Anna King tallied her first career score as well.
Landri Wenzel and
Kaitlyn Smith each finished with an assist for the Orange and Black.
The visiting Warriors looked strong in the early going as they jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first five minutes. The two squads traded goals over the next 10 minutes, and the Orange and Black held a 4-3 advantage with 16:50 remaining in the first half.Â
The Colonels responded with four straight goals, taking a 7-4 lead with 8:39 in the first. Reger notched a goal with just under five minutes remaining, but Centre scored again before the half to take an 8-5 lead into the intermission.
In the second half, Centre opened the frame with three straight goals, extending their lead to 11-5. Umble tried to rally the Warriors, scoring two straight to cut into the lead, but the Hendrix momentum was stunted by a pair of yellow cards the resulted in a man-up goal for the Colonels. Centre added three more scores before King notched her first career goal. As time expired, the Warriors fell to the home team 15-8.
Hendrix Notes- Pochron's 16 saves marks her second-highest total of the season.

Kaitlyn Smith recorded two draw controls, setting a new Hendrix single-season record for draw controls.Â

Raychl Reger reached a new program record as well, tying the mark for career points with 54 (41 G, 13 A).

Centre Notes- Jacqueline Anderson scored four goals and added an assist while Andrea Wambaugh finished with three goals and an assist.
- Allison Eisner earned the win in net by making five saves in 56 minutes of play.
- Ellen Resinger earned a game-high nine draw controls for the Colonels.
Up NextHendrix will travel to Birmingham, Ala. to take on Birmingham-Southern College on April 4.Â
