Vikings Top Warriors

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team fell to Southern Athletic Association rival Berry College 9-4 on the road Sunday afternoon.

The host Vikings (7-4, 2-1) outshot the Warriors (6-4, 1-2) 38-24 overall and 19-13 on goal. Berry also won the ground ball battle 25-18 and were 26-of-28 on clear attempts. Hendrix took 11 of the 17 faceoff attempts.

Cory Hall and Christian Akers scored the first two goals of the game for the Vikings in the first quarter, but the Warriors cut the lead to 2-1 when junior Travis Rabun scored on an assist from Carson Boone.

Berry added two more goals in the second, but sophomore midfielder Alex Ortenstone scored on a pass from TK Shaffer and Cody Eckes netted a man-up goal with an assist from junior Patrick Rogers just before halftime to make the game 4-3 in the Vikings' favor at the break.

After two more BC goals to start the third, Rabun found the net again on a Eckes pass with 3:49 left in the quarter to make the score 6-4. The Vikings scored three more times in the fourth for the final score.

Hendrix Notes
- Senior Branden Harbaugh tied his season-high with three caused turnovers to go with a pair of ground balls.
- Rabun's two goals gives him 21 on the season, the third most on the team.
- Ortenstone led the Warriors with five ground balls and six faceoffs won.
- Six Hendrix players recorded two or more ground balls - Christian Wheeler, Harbaugh, Rabun, Dan D'Ostuni, Ortenstone and Patrick Munn.
- Wheeler recorded 10 saves in goal.

Berry Notes
- Hall paced the Vikings with three goals and an assist to go with three ground balls.
- Quentin Johnson recorded three assists and Jake Emche had two goals.
- Patrick Towner led the defense with three caused turnovers.
- Nick Voso had nine saves in goal.
