MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team had their season come to an abrupt halt on Saturday afternoon as the Warriors fell 18-8 to the Rhodes College Lynx in the Southern Athletic Association quarterfinals.
Kaitlyn Smith scored three goals and added an assist, scooped a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover.
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler finished with a career-high two goals, three ground bals, and a pair of caused turnovers.
Bridget Umble scored twice and forced a turnover, and
Meghan Ayers added a goal and a caused turnover.
Raychl Reger finished with one assist and a team-high four draw controls, while
Shelby Hill finished with three.
Gabryele Pochron finished with nine saves, but took the loss in net.
Hendrix came out with a bold determination to upset the second-seeded Lynx, trading goals with the home team for the first 15 minutes.
Bridget Umble found the net just 2:28 into the game, and
Kaitlyn Smith netted a free position shot to make it 3-2, but six first half goals from Rhodes' Kendall Cunningham led the Lynx offense to a big lead. Kriesel-Bigler and Umble each scored before halftime as the Warriors went into the break trailing 9-4.
Smith notched the first tally of the second half, drawing the Warriors with four goals with her second free position score of the game, but the Lynx responded with five consecutive scores to extend their lead. Smith and Kriesel-Bigler scored back-to-back goals to make it 14-7 with 10:42 remaining, but that was as close as the Warriors would draw to the Lynx.
Meghan Ayers finished the game with her third goal of the year with 1:21 remaining, but Rhodes held on for an 18-8 win.
The Warriors graduate one senior, midfielder
Landri Wenzel. Wenzel will graduate with her name plastered all over the program record book. She finishes fifth in program history in points, goals, and draw controls, fourth in ground balls and caused turnovers, and second in points per game and assists.
Hendrix Notes- The 2015 campaign proved to be the most prolific offense year for the Warriors in program history with 138 goals and 45 assists on the year, improving on the 2014 offense by 24 goals and 23 assists.
- The Warriors' defense also improved in 2015, allowing 13 fewer goals, while recording 33 more saves and 36 more caused turnovers than in 2014.

Gabryele Pochron finished the season with 133 saves, the most in single-season program history.
Rhodes Notes - Kendall Cunnigham finished with seven goals while Ashley Dill scored four and added an assist. Morgan Fuller had two goals and two assists.
- Oliva Holmes led the team with three ground balls, while Erin Gleeson secured four draw controls. Emily Teague and Dill paced the Lynx with two caused turnovers apiece.
- Sarah Daniels made seven saves in net for the win.
