BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse seasone came to a close with a 21-10 loss at Birmingham-Southern College in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Touurnament.
The Warriors finished the season at 7-7, their most successful campaign in the program's three-year history. The team, under head coach
Peri West, broke the scool records for points, goals, assists and ground balls.
The Panthers (12-4), who were the third seed outshot the sixth-seeded Warriors 33-28 overall and 30-21 on goal. BSC held a 29-26 advantage in ground balls and led 18-15 in draws. Both squads caused 11 turnovers.
Freshman attacker
Morgan Dasch scored the first goal for Hendrix just 1:39 into the contest. BSC answered with four straight goals, but the Warriors tied it at the 17:42 mark thanks to two goals and an assist from junior
Raychl Reger and a goal by sophomore
Bridget Umble.
The Panthers then rattled off seven consecutive goals before Umble and Dasch scored again to make the game 11-5. BSC scored two more goals in the final 30 seconds of the first half to take a 13-5 lead into the break.
Hendrix cut the deficit to 14-7 after a free-position goal by Dasch and man-up score from freshman
Brooke Leahy with 24:02 left. The Panthers then scored seven of the last nine goals for the 21-10 win. Junior defender Gabryle Pochron and sophomore midfielder
Kaitlyn Smith both had second half goals for the Warriors.
Hendrix Notes
- Pochron set the school record with six caused turnovers and had six ground balls, tied for third most in program history. She finished with a school record 35 caused turnovers on the season.
- Dasch had three goals and an assist to finish the season with 31 goals and a school record 29 assists and 60 points.
- Reger recorded two goals, an assist and won two draw controls.
- Umble scored a pair of goals and finished with a team-high 42 for the year.
- Smith had a goal, four ground balls and three draws.

Meghan Ayers also picked up three ground balls.

- The Panthers move on to face Rhodes on Sunday in the semifinals.
- Ashley Shepherd led the Panthers with six goals and an assist.
- Katie Gleeson had five goals, three assists, seven draw controls and three caused turnovers.
- Amanda Amerson scored three goals with an assist.
- Alyssa Gentyzel scored three times to go with six draws and two caused turnovers.
- Shana O'Brien picked up six ground balls and caused two miscues.
- Chloe Massoni stopped 11 shots in goal.
