Conway, AR - Hendrix College (2-0) had their home opener and got a non-conference 19-7 win over Marian this evening.
After scoring seven goals in the first period, Hendrix would jump out to a 11-1 lead before halftime with goals from
Drew Scanlan,
Garrett Brown and
Thomas Adamo in the second period.
The Warriors added two more goals in the third period with another goal by Brown and one by
Max Lynch.
The Warriors continued to play sold defense and build on their lead, adding six more goals in the fourth period.
Cullen Robinette scored his first goal of the game for HC at the 9:51 mark of the fourth quarter.
Garrett Brown and Robinette then tallied the next two goals for the Warriors to put them ahead comfortably 16-7 with 8:32 remaining in the game.
Sabers wouldn't give up though, as they fought to try and get back into the game.
Marian would not be able to score any more goals however as the Warriors defense held on to claim the victory.
"I am really happy with the guys and their poise to finish the game," said Head Coach
Anthony Biondo. "We came out firing on all cylinders. We were great defensively and offensively. Also what a great night for
Garrett Brown, a 10 point night for a player who has been working hard everyday at practice."
Elias Ramos led the Warriors with 17 ground balls. Adamo chipped in with four ground balls.
Taylor Noack got the win in net for the Warriors.
Hendrix will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Montgomery, AL to take on Huntingdon. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
