Chattanooga, TN - The Hendrix Warriors softball team competed in day two of the SAA Conference Tournament today. The Warriors entered the tournament as the three seed and in their first game today they took on the number two seeded Birmingham Southern. The Warriors would fall in game one 2-0 thus brining on a game against the the number five seeded Rhodes College. Unfortunately, they would fall in a close game 7-6.
Here's how the games played out:
Game One
After a scoreless first five innings, it was the Panthers who jumped out to the 2-0 advantage on the strength of a triple then a timely single.
Hendrix would try to answer back however they could not muster up a run in the final two innings and would ultimately fall 2-0.
Deva Bharne,
Nikki Sanders,
Taylor Oglesby, and
Laura Mortan all went 1 for 3.
Savannah Draud pitched in six innings allowing five hits and two runs while striking out five.
Game Two
Game two would be much more of a back and forth affair however, Hendrix would ultimately fall 7-6 to Rhodes.
The Warriors went 12 for 30 at the plate against Rhodes. Hendrix would get four hits from
Karli Sewell including a two run home run.
Bryanna Carlisle would go 3 for 4 with two runs scored and Bharne would go 2 for 3 with two RBI's.
Emily Stockalper would pitch four innings allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out one. Draud would come in and pitch two innings and allow no hits or runs.
