Softball Splits With Ladies at Home

CONWAY, Ark. – Following a split against SUNY Oneonta Wednesday evening from Conway, the Warriors looked for the second and third victories on the season against Centenary (La.) on the baseball diamond but a split of the doubleheader saw Hendrix improve to 11-3 on the season following an 8-0 mercy rule victory over the Ladies in six innings in the first game and then a 9-8 defeat in nine innings in game two. Emily Stockalper picked up two decisions on the day; a win in game one to improve to 4-1 on the year following a complete game, four-hit shutout and then a loss in the final game Sunday. Jaydan Hunt finished the day batting 4-for-7 with six RBIs and two runs. Sitting at 11-3, Hendrix is still off to one of the greatest starts in program history.

NOTABLE:
GAME 1
- The Warriors got to the starting Centenary (La.) pitcher after Hendrix recorded four straight hits to start off the game and chased the starter out of the game before getting one out.
- After scoring one run in the second and third innings, a double down the right field line in the sixth put the Warriors up by eight runs; forcing the mercy rule.
- In addition to Hunt's two-hit game, Mortan and Sewell accounted for two hits against the Ladies and combined for five RBIs; five other Warriors recorded one hit.
- Stockalper, Sewell and Mortan each record doubles as the Ladies failed to get any sort of extra-base hits.
- Stockalper tossed her fourth complete game of the season in her seventh appearance; struck out four ladies in the win while picking up a team-leading fourth win of the year.

GAME 2
- After trailing by three runs after six innings, an RBI double in the seventh by Oglesby gave Hendrix life.
- A two-RBI double to left center with two strikes and two outs by Hunt tied up the game at 3-3 in the seventh.
- After both teams managed to carve hitless outings in the eighth inning, Centenary (La.) added four runs in the ninth inning while Hendrix scored three with Combs grounding out to the shortstop with Hunt at third base (the tying run).
- Hunt, Reames and Rivera tallied doubles against the Ladies while Centenary (La.) only had two extra-base hits.
- Hunt and Reames carded the two lone two-hit performances for Hendrix; combined for five RBIs; six Warriors carded one hit in the loss.
- Skyler Teague relieved starter Hailey Johnston and pitched two innings of one-hit, one-run softball while striking out one Lady.
- G. Bryant picked up a no decision in the circle after pitching two full innings; giving up two runs and striking out one batter.

WHO'S NEXT:
The Warriors will hit the road for the first time since March 2 with a non-conference tilt set in Clarksville against University of the Ozarks March 12 at3 and 5 p.m.
