Softball Falls Twice to Birmingham-Southern Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Following a three-game sweep of the Sewanee Tigers, Hendrix resumed road action in Southern Athletic Association play Saturday with a three-game series against the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers this weekend. Saturday, the Panthers defeated the Warriors, 3-2, in the first game. Brooke Lowry recorded her second collegiate home run and first-ever grand slam in the second game but it was not quite enough as BSC took the second game, 11-4. Hendrix falls to 13-14 on the season with a 6-5 mark in conference action while BSC improves to 25-5 on the year with a 9-2 mark in SAA play.

HOW THE WARRIORS SCORED:
GAME 1
- 5th - Emily Stockalper reached first on an error by 3b; Jaydan Hunt advanced to second, out at third ss unassisted; Aubrey Brink scored, unearned.
- 6th - Taylor Oglesby doubled to left center, RBI; Grace Bryant scored.

GAME 2
- 2nd - Brooke Lowry homered to left field, 4 RBI; Olivia Reames scored; Karli Sewell scored; Taylor Oglesby scored.

NOTABLE:
GAME 1
- After BSC took a 2-0 lead in the first frame, Hendrix got on the scoreboard in the fifth after a throwing error on the Panthers scored Brink from third base.
- Trailing by two runs in the sixth inning, a single by G. Bryant to lead off the inning followed by a double by Oglesby put Hendrix in business and brought the Warriors within a run, 3-2.
- Lowry led the seventh inning off with a single back up the middle but two strikeouts and a foul out sealed the win for BSC, 3-2.
- Five different Warriors picked up a hit in the game while Oglesby accounted for the lone RBI in the game.
- Draud tossed another complete game; only allowed four hits and two earned runs while striking out four Panthers on 121 pitches.

GAME 2
- The Panthers struck for the first three games but a grand slam by Lowry gave Hendrix the 4-3 lead in the second frame; her second collegiate home run and first grand slam.
- Panthers took the lead back after scoring three more in the second inning and five more in the sixth; BSC won, 11-4.
- Sewell, Reames, Lowry and Colclaser recorded the four lone hits for Hendrix in the game with Lowry picking up all four RBIs on one swing of the bat.
- In her first outing after the 3rd perfect game in school history, Stockalper gave up 12 hits while striking out two in her 109-pitch, complete game performance. 
- With the two losses, Hendrix currently sits fourth in the SAA standings with seven SAA games left.

WHO'S NEXT:
The Warriors look for its second SAA sweep of the season when Hendrix battles Sewanee one final time this regular season. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. Sunday inside Warrior Field.
