Women's Lacrosse Falls to Oglethorpe in SAA Opener

ATLANTA, Ga. - In the second game of the year, Hendrix traveled to Atlanta, Ga. to take on Oglethorpe in the Southern Athletic Association opener. Oglethorpe scored eight first half goals and held the 8-4 lead at the break as the Stormy Petrels recorded the 13-10 win over Hendrix Saturday. With the loss, Hendrix falls to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in SAA play while Oglethorpe improves to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in conference games. Alison Watanabe and Hannah Burroughs scored three goals for Hendrix while Calah Justice added two.

OF NOTE:
- After Sophie Mazzaro put the Warriors up 1-0, the Stormy Petrels carded seven unanswered goals to take a commanding 7-1 lead midway through the opening half.
- Burroughs scored two of the final three goals for Hendrix in the first half as the Warriors trailed 8-4 at the break.
- After Burroughs scored her third goal of the day early in the second half and Watanabe scored her second, Oglethorpe carded a 4-0 run to hold a 12-6 lead with 21:53 left in the game.
- Watanabe scored her third goal of the day moments later while Brenna Kuenzi scored her first collegiate goal four minutes later as the Warriors trailed 12-8 with 17 minutes left.
- Calah Justice scored her first two goals of the year in the last eight minutes as Hendrix fell 13-10.

BOX SCORE NOTABLE:
- Watanabe carded four points; also recorded four shots and four shots on goal Saturday.
- Amber Turner and Hagan Griffith carded two caused turnovers.
- Burroughs also registered four shots on goal while Justice and Griffith combined for eight shots on goal.
- Alexis Williams recorded four ground balls against the Stormy Petrels.
- Williams also recorded 10 saves in all 60 minutes of work Saturday from Atlanta.

WHO'S NEXT:
Hendrix travels to Montgomery, Ala. Sunday at 12 p.m. to take on Huntingdon.
