CONWAY, Ark. -Â Hendrix lost its season-opening doubleheader to Centenary (La.) on Thursday at Warrior Softball Field by scores of 7-2 and 9-1 in six innings.
In game one, Hailey Johnson and
Aubrey Lee each had a hit for the Warriors.
Laura Mortan and
Brooke Lowry tallied a RBI apiece. Lee and Mortan each crossed home plate once.
Johnston (0-1) suffered the defeat in the circle, allowing seven runs, two earned, on eight hits with a pair of walks in five innings.
Skyler Teague threw two innings of two-hit, shutout relief with a walk.
Centenary totaled 10 hits.
In game two, Herrera, Lee and
Savannah Shaw each had two hits. Shaw also drove in one.
Avery Colclaser scored once.
Grace Bryant (0-1) took the loss in the circle, giving up eight runs, one earned, on five hits with six strikeouts against three walks on 99 pitches in five innings.
Kourtney Lee pitched one inning out of the bullpen, giving up one earned run on two hits.
Centenary (4-0) compiled seven hits, while Hendrix (0-2) had five.
The Warriors open Southern Athletic Association action with a four-game series at Millsaps (Miss.) March 6-7.
