DANVILLE, Ky. - Hendrix swept Sunday's doubleheader against Centre (Ky.) at Centre Softball Field to force a split of the four-game series. The Warriors won the first contest, a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tilt, 8-3 before finishing the Colonels 12-2 in five innings in the second game which did not count towards the league standings.

Hendrix (3-7, 1-5 SAA) has won five of the last seven meetings versus Centre (3-13, 3-7 SAA).

In game one, Kinsey Bryant opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a RBI single.

A Laura Mortan RBI single in the third made the score 2-0 before the Warriors erupted for four runs in the fifth. Avery Colclaser led off with a double and scored in the next at-bat on an error by Rachel Skinner. A Kendyl Patton RBI single and Brooke Lowry RBI walk preceded a Jaydan Hunt sacrifice fly.

A Riley McCue RBI single in the bottom of the sixth got the Colonels on the board, but Hendrix answered in the next half-inning on an Aubrey Lee RBI single. Lowry also scored on the play courtesy of an error by Alana Fullen.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, a Haley Simon RBI single and Melissa Collins RBI double cut their team's deficit to five, but Skyler Teague struck out McCue with two on to end the threat.

Colclaser batted 4-for-5 in the victory. Lee and Mortan each had three hits, while Patton added two.

Six different Warriors drove in a run.

Colclaser scored twice.

Hunt (1-1) earned the win in the circle, throwing six innings while allowing just two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and six walks. Teague pitched one inning of relief, giving up one earned run on three hits with a strikeout.

With the triumph, Hendrix head coach Amy Weaver notched her 400th-career win.

The Warriors ended a seven-game skid in league play.

Sarah Fly had two hits in the loss.

Amanda Morgan (1-4) was hit with the loss after surrendering four earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 4.1 innings pitched.

In game two, the Warriors exploded for 10 runs through the middle of three innings.

Similar to game one, a Bryant first-inning RBI single opened the offensive onslaught.

A Colclaser two-run double and RBI singles by Lee and Bryant in the second pushed their team's advantage to 5-0.

Hunt (1) took Branan Cobb deep to right center for a two-run shot in the top of the third to put Hendrix up a touchdown. Bryant (1) also went yard on a two-run bomb in the frame, taking a Morgan 3-1 offering over the left field fence after a Lee RBI double.

Fly and Mia Tomillo each had a RBI in the bottom of the frame to get Centre on the scoreboard.

However, in the top of the fifth, a Lee RBI groundout and Mortan RBI single pushed the Orange and Black's advantage back to 10, and the Colonels stranded two in the bottom half-inning to end the game early.

A. Lee, Bryant and Mortan each had three hits, and Hunt and Colclaser added two apiece.

Bryant drove in four, with A. Lee plating three and Hunt and Colclaser two each.

Colclaser crossed home four times. Hunt, A. Lee and Patton each scored twice.

Kourtney Lee (1-0) threw a complete game on just 61 pitches in the circle for the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with a strikeout and walk.

The Warriors pounded out 16 hits in each contest, their most entering Sunday in the last 36 games.

Like game one, Fly ended with two hits.

Lucy Baseheart (1-5) suffered the defeat in the circle, giving up four earned runs on five hits with a strikeout and two walks in 1.2 innings.

Hendrix returns to Warrior Softball Field April 2-3 when Weaver's team hosts Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) in a three-game series. First pitch Friday is set for 4 p.m. CT.
