ATLANTA -Â Hendrix's
Ethan Armour has been named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. The junior earns the honor for the first time in his career.
At the Richard Martin Jr. Invitational, hosted by Central Arkansas, on March 19, Armour finished second in the javelin after a throw of 46.76 meters. The Dallas native placed fourth in the pole vault after clearing 3.65 meters, sixth in the discus after a throw of 34.01 meters and eighth in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.54 seconds.
Armour leads the SAA in the decathlon after accumulating 5,533 points at the Harding (Ark.) Spring Break Multi, hosted by the Division II school, on March 7. He is second in the league in the 110 meter hurdles and third in the javelin after a throw of 49.43 meters on March 7. Armour is second nationally in the decathlon, 16th in the 110 meter hurdles and 34th in the javelin.
Hendrix takes part in the Dan Veach Invitational, hosted by Division II Southern Arkansas, March 26 starting at 9 a.m. CT.
