LAGRANGE, Ga. -
Maximus LaMendola scored four goals in Hendrix's 14-7 win over LaGrange (Ga.) on Friday. The Warriors improve to 2-0 all-time against the Panthers, with both victories coming at Panther Field.
Hendrix (2-2) head coach
Jordan Drumheller earned a win over Brandon Sewell, the LaGrange (1-4) head coach and a former player for Drumheller at Huntingdon (Ala.) where he was an assistant for two seasons (2012-13).
The Orange and Black overcame a 3-0 deficit with eight-straight goals between the first and second quarters.Â
Joshua Kee gave the Warriors the lead for good with 11:41 left before halftime with an assist from
Klaus Rowan.
Brandon Barnes found the back of the net with 15 seconds on the clock to make the score 9-4 at intermission.
Hendrix scored 10 of the game's 11 goals during one stretch, as LaMendola tickled the twine for the third time to give his team a 10-4 upper hand midway through the third period.
Leading 10-5 with 15 minutes to play, Drumheller's unit put together a 4-0 run in a near 12-minute span, with
Spencer Dorfneilsen tallying the final two scores.
Dorfneilsen and
Alec Davis each finished with a pair of goals. Dorfneilsen also had two assists.
LaMendola ended with 10 shots, including seven on goal. Rowan and
Nick Quarles each had seven shots and five on frame. Dorfneilsen and
Hunter Holden each picked up five ground balls.Â
Ian Domeika (2-2) went the distance between the pipes for the victory and made 12 saves.
The Warriors held edges in shots (46-34), shots on goal (32-19) and ground balls (31-27). Drumheller's team was a perfect 15-of-15 on clears.
Aidan Story and Ben Bryan each scored two goals for LaGrange (1-4). Jacob Jeffords picked up 10 ground balls.
Isaac Bohrer (1-4) played the entire game in net and took the loss, recording 18 saves.
The Panthers were 15-of-16 on clears.
Hendrix eyes its third-consecutive win against the Hawks when the two teams face Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Drumheller served on the inaugural staff of Huntingdon head coach Andrew Carey.
