Davis gives Hendrix OT win at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. - Alec Davis' fourth goal Friday, coming with 2:50 left in overtime, gave Hendrix an 11-10 win over Sewanee (Tenn.) at Harris Stadium. The Warriors earned their first win in 14 all-time meetings with the Tigers.

Hendrix (6-5, 2-2 SAA) has won five-consecutive true road games.

After Luke Valentine gave Sewanee (4-7, 2-2 SAA) a 10-9 lead with 1:58 to play in regulation, Nick Quarles' second goal of the game with 53 seconds on the clock sent the affair into an extra period.

The Warriors trailed 3-1 midway through the second quarter but responded with six of the next seven goals. Four-straight scores by Spencer Dorfneilsen, Ethan Austin, Davis and Maximus LaMendola put Hendrix in front 7-4 with a minute left in the third.

The Tigers answered with four of the next five goals to tie the contest at eight with 7:01 to go in the fourth. Hendrix's Brandon Barnes and Sewanee's Ryan Hofstetter traded goals in a 30 second span to knot the game at nine.

Davis' four goals tied a game-high. He has scored at least three in three-straight contests and five this year. Quarles and Barnes each had two goals.

LaMendola registered four assists, his third-consecutive game and fourth this season with at least that many. Marshall Gregg picked up five ground balls, while Hunter Holden had four.

Ian Domeika (6-5) went the distance between the pipes for the 10th time this season in the win and made 17 saves.

Valentine and Hofstetter each totaled four goals and an assist. Charlie Warren picked up 10 ground balls and won 16-of-24 face offs.

Greg Ix (1-3) played the entire game in net in the loss and recorded eight stops.

Hendrix was 26-of-29 on clears, while Sewanee was just 12-of-18 and 1-of-5 on extra man opportunities.

The Warriors continue a three-game road trip in league play to conclude the regular season Sunday at Centre (Ky.) starting at 11 a.m. CT.
