CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix department of intercollegiate athletics announced the men's and women's recipients of its major annual awards during a ceremony at Mike's Place restaurant on Thursday. The luncheon was limited to Hendrix head coaches, award recipients and department staff.
The Coach G Award is given to a senior male and female whose contributions stretch far beyond their sport. Although individually successful, they have shown support not only to their teammates but also to their fellow Warriors across all sports and have truly exhibited the selfless character and true Warrior spirit.
The Bob Courtway Leadership Award is given to a male and female who best exemplifies the ideals for which the former swim coach and director of athletics stood: character, leadership, sportsmanship, service and integrity.
The Carl Babcock Award, named after the former football player and men's track athlete, is given to a male and female who best exhibits those character traits for which Carl Babcock possessed: clean and vigorous competition, pursuit of excellence, dedication to physical health and well-being, team above self and honor above victory.
The Hendrix Man of the Year award, who also becomes the college's nominee for SAA Man of the Year, is given to a senior male who has distinguished himself throughout his collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
The NCAA Woman of the Year award is given to a woman who is most qualified based on service, leadership, athletics excellence and the involvement that participation in athletics has had upon the nominee's life.
