Allen, Klinkerman named All-SAA first team

ATLANTA - Hendrix throwers Madelyn Klinkerman and Alivia Allen have been named to the All-Southern Athletic Association (SAA) first team, the league office announced Monday. Klinkerman earns a postseason accolade from the league for the fourth time, while Allen earns a nod for the second-consecutive year after being named honorable mention as a freshman.

The All-SAA teams are based on individual and relay finishes from the SAA Women's Track and Field Championships April 29-30 at Berry (Ga.). All athletes who win an individual event at the championship or are a part of a championship relay team are considered All-SAA first team. All whose highest individuial or relay finish is second earn All-SAA second team. All whose highest finish is third earn All-SAA honorable mention.

Klinkerman, a fifth year senior from Pearland, Texas, who was also tabbed first team in 2021 after earning second team and honorable mention honors in 2019 and 2018, respectively, won the title in the discus for a second-straight season and the hammer. She broke the Hendrix and conference championship records in the discus with a throw of 43.98 meters. Klinkerman shattered the conference championship mark by 3.47 meters and the program record for the third time this season. Her hammer throw of 43.16 meters was 14th best all-time in the meet.

Allen, a sophomore from Bryant, Ark., won the championship in the shot put and took second in the discus. Her shot put throw of 12.14 meters was just .09 shy of Jaydan Hunt's 2019 Hendrix record and the 10th best all-time in the meet. Allen's discus throw of 41.12 meters also broke the previous conference championship mark.
