Conway, Ark.- The Hendrix Women's Tennis team opened their 2023 season on Saturday, splitting contests with in-state rivals University of the Ozarks and Ouachita Baptist University.

The Warriors dominated Ozarks, taking the match 8-1. The Warriors only dropped one singles match in this contest after putting together a very solid doubles performance. The doubles pairings consisted of Eleanor Burks and Avery Stephens, Emma Self and Josie Leffingwell, Kate Adcox and Ayden Huckelbury. McKenzie McCready joined the fray in a singles match in which she won both sets 6-0 and 6-2 respectively. Eleanor Burks took both sets of her singles match 6-0. Stephens and Huckelbury also won their singles matches in two sets.

In the second match of the day, the Warriors came up short against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers losing the match 9-0. Burks and Stephens dropped a very close doubles match 8-7 (7-4)Â against a talented Tigers pairing of Natalia Zamora-Capriolo and Shelly Davilus. The Warriors dropped all of their singles matches to the Tigers.

The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, February 8 at the Hatcher Tennis Center where they will host Harding University at 5:00 pm.Â
