Conway, Ark. - Hendrix Softball hosted the Centre Colonels for their opening series in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA). The Warriors struggled to register hits versus Centre's infield, as they were outscored 23-14 across the weekend's three games. The series sweep drops the Warriors to 4-5 (0-3 SAA).
Game 1
Paizley Vaught's 2 RBI double in the 3rd inning brought the score to 4-3, but that would be the closest the Warriors got to the Colonels in Game 1.
Hendrix made things interesting in the 7th inning, as a
Betty Wolfe RBI single then allowed
Grace Bryant to drive in two runs to make the score 8-6.
The Warriors would then fly out twice to end the first game of the doubleheader.
Game 2
Centre jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held the Warriors scoreless through 5 innings.
Gabby Naples and Andie Hauser each drove in runs to put Hendrix on the board in the 6th inning.
After Centre tacked on another run, the Warriors attempted another 7th inning rally.
Grace Bryant's RBI double drove in
Betty Wolfe. Bryant would then score from third after Hendrix hit into a double play to bring the score to 8-4, but that was all the Warriors could muster in the 7th inning.
Game 3
The Colonels put up a 3 spot in the 1st inning, but
Betty Wolfe answered with an RBI single in the 3rd inning to cut the Colonel lead to two.
Centre would tack on another run in the 4th inning, but Hendrix then responded with 2 runs in the home half of the inning with a Sam Wood 2 RBI single down the right field lane.
The Warriors found themselves down 7-3 entering the 7th inning and seeking more late-game heroics.
Peyton Frady came in to pinch-run for
Peyton Nance after Nance's 1 out double to left center. Frady would advance to third on a wild pitch, and was driven home on a
Grace Bryant sacrifice fly. But that would do it for the Warriors in the 7th, dropping Game 3 to the Colonels 7-4.
