Birmingham, Ala. - Hendrix wrapped up the 2023 regular season in Birmingham on Saturday, falling 18-3 to Birmingham-Southern (BSC) in a winner-take-all contest that saw BSC clinch the final spot in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament.
BSC would grab the game's opening two goals within the first 90 seconds of play, before
Alaina Palmer got the Warriors on the board to halve the deficit.
The Panthers would then score 15 unanswered goals for a 17-1 lead.
Sophia Smith netted a goal with less than a minute played in the fourth quarter, and Palmer would net a second with just over two minutes remaining in what became a long afternoon for the Warriors.
Hendrix finished 10-25 on draw controls and were 11-21 on clear attempts, but 36 turnovers hampered the Orange and Black as they could only register four shots over 60 minutes of play.
The Warriors end the year 3-7 and 0-5 in the SAA, and will look forward to the 2024 season after promising freshman campaigns from Palmer,
Peyton Refling, and
Tatum Jacob.
