Conway, Ark. - After a thrilling Saturday afternoon that saw Hendrix split their doubleheader with Sewanee, the Warriors dropped their series finale 10-2 on Sunday afternoon at Warrior Softball Field.
Sewanee plated four runs in the 1st and added another in the 2nd to take an early 5-0 lead.
Paizley Vaught and
Ashlynn Fowler led off the home half of the 4th with back-to-back hits, and Sam Wood reached on a bunt with one out to load the bases.
Kendyl Patton subsequently drove in Vaught with a hit-by-pitch, and Fowler was then brought in after
Tori Maldonado reached on a fielder's choice for Hendrix's second run.
Trailing 10-2 in the 7th after giving up a four-spot in the top half of the inning,
Nakia Fields and
Betty Wolfe reached on back-to-back singles to put two runners on with no outs, and Vaught reached first base on an error by the shortstop to load the bases with one out.
But the potential rally was stopped after Fowler flew out into a double play, with
Layton Rogers being thrown out at home after tagging up on third.
Betty Wolfe (L, 0-2) was the pitcher of record after allowing 5 runs in 2.0 innings with a strikeout.
Sam Wood led the Warriors in Game 3 with 2 hits.
Up Next: Hendrix (7-23, 2-13 SAA) will head to Clarksville for a midweek doubleheader with in-state foe Ozarks before going to Jackson to finish up the regular season with a three-game series versus Millsaps.
