Men's Lacrosse Loses on Road to Berry

Mount Berry, Ga. - Hendrix was unable to capitalize on a great start versus Berry and ultimately fell 19-11 on Sunday afternoon at Valhalla.

Austin Williams gave Hendrix the lead just five minutes into the first period with an unassisted effort for the game's first goal.

Klaus Rowan then doubled the Warriors' lead with an assist from Zachary Cox, and Nick Quarles netted his first goal of the contest at the 6:52 mark to put Hendrix up 3-0.

The Warriors then surrendered five unanswered goals to the Vikings, but Rowan stopped the bleeding with his second goal to cut Berry's lead to one. The Vikings added one more late in the second period to go into halftime up 6-4.

Matthew Parsons was on the mark early in the second half to pull Hendrix back within one of the Vikings, but Berry responded with three unanswered goals to take a commanding 9-5 lead halfway through the period. Williams and Jack Conley both scored third-period goals to keep the game close before Vikings took a 13-7 lead early in the fourth quarter and used that as a springboard to run away from the Warriors in the end.

Quarles and Cox led the Warriors with four points each, while Rowan finished with three points on two goals and an assist.

Ian Domeika made nineteen saves over sixty minutes in the cage.

Hendrix (4-7, 1-2 SAA) now returns to Conway to close out the conference season at home with games against Centre, Sewanee, and Rhodes.
