Conway, Ark. - Hendrix wrapped up the regular season with a series loss versus the Millsaps Majors at Warrior Softball Field.
Game 1 (L, 3-0)
Millsaps plated three runs across the opening two innings and was able to shut out the Warriors over the course of seven innings to take the series opener.
Hendrix's first hit of the game came in the home half of the fifth with a lead-off single from
Alyssa Sornia. Sornia was thrown out at second on a
Layton Rogers's fielder's choice, but the Warriors were able to get two back on the basepath with a two-out single from
Betty Wolfe. Both Rogers and Wolfe were left stranded to end the inning.
Sornia singled in the 7th as the Warriors looked to rally, but the Warriors grounded into a double play to end the game.
Game 2 (L, 6-2)
The Majors scratched three across in the opening two innings as they did in the series opener to take a 3-0 lead.
Peyton Frady got Hendrix on the board for the first time in the series with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth to bring in
Kendyl Patton, who had led off the inning with a double, but Millsaps responded in the next half inning with a three-spot to take a commanding 6-1 lead.
Hendrix loaded the bases with singles from
Kaycee Schoen,
Tori Maldonado, and
Alyssa Sornia, but the trio were left stranded as Millsaps was able to record the third out on an infield pop-up.
Trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh,
Emmaline Trosclair singled with two outs to keep the inning going, and reached third after
Betty Wolfe doubled to left center.
Rylee Harris brought in Trosclair with an RBI single, but Wolfe and Harris were left stranded to end the game.
Game 3 (L, 6-3)
Emmaline Trosclair got the start in the circle in the series finale and threw 3.2 scoreless innings before the Majors took a 1-0 lead off an unearned run after an infield error that kept the inning going.
The Warriors got going in the fifth inning as
Kendyl Patton and
Tori Veith reached, and Patton was then brought home on an RBI single by
Layton Rogers.
Betty Wolfe then drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single, and
Rylee Harris added onto the lead with another RBI single.
Trosclair worked around a lead-off double in the sixth to surrender just one run in the inning to maintain the Warriors' lead. Hendrix was unable to take advantage of a two-out double from
Kendyl Patton, and the Majors put up a four-spot in the top of the seventh to take a 6-3 lead. Hendrix went down in order in the home half of the inning to conclude the series.
Up Next: Hendrix (11-22, 4-11 SAA)
earned the fourth seed in next week's Southern Athletic Association Softball Championships, its highest seed and conference finish since 2022. They will take on Sewanee in the 4-5 matchup on Thursday, May 8, with the winner slated to play top-seeded Berry later that evening. The loser of the game will drop into the loser's bracket.
