Softball Season Comes to a Close in Defeat to Lynx

Columbus, Ga. - The Warriors had their season come to a close today, in a tough fought matchup to Rhodes after having to survive in the Loser's Bracket.

Game 1 (L, 0-8)

Riding the momentum of their opening round victory, Hendrix looked to upset the top seeded Vikings. The game was even up until the bottom of the 4th, where the Vikings got on the board first after a single to left field got two across the plate. Berry would bring that runner across with a single down the right field line to take a 3-0 lead going into the 5th.

The Warrior offense would fail to register a hit in the top of the 5th, going down 1-2-3. Berry would add three more runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a 6-0 lead. Berry would close the game out in the bottom of the 6th.

Sadie Lewis was the pitcher of record, going 3.2 IP. Emmaline Trosclair would come in and pitch 1.0 IP, with Gianna Robinson going 0.2 to close out the game.

The loss put the Warriors in the Loser's Bracket, where they add to win to survive and advance.

Game 2 (W, 6-1)

The Warriors were matched up with the Centre Colonels in their first game of the Loser's Bracket, needing to win to advance.

The Warriors got on the board early in the 2nd inning, with Tori Veith scoring first. The Warriors would add two more runs to their total, thanks to a Rylee Harris single to bring in Layton Rogers & Peyton Frady.

Rylee Harris would strike again, with a single to left field to bring in Trosclair and Betty Wolfe scoring on an errant throw by the left fielder. Kaycee Schoen would then bring Harris across with a sacrifice fly to center field to bring the score to 6-0. Centre would finally get a run across in the 7th, but the Warriors would remain strong and take down the Colonels to survive.

You couldn't have asked much more of your pitching staff, with Emma Salis rising to the occasion once again. Salis would toss 4.0 innings of shutout ball, only allowing one hit with four strikeouts. Gianna Robinson would pitch the final 3.0 innings, giving up on two hits.

Keeping their season alive, the Warriors would have to take down the #3 seeded Rhodes Lynx to stay alive in the SAA Tournament.

Game 3 (L, 1-5)

With the season on the line, the Warriors would have to upset the Lynx to survive.

Rhodes got on the board early, with two doubles to bring the score to 3-0 in the first. With the Warriors unable to answer back, Rhodes would bring two more across with a two out double to left center field. The score would hold 5-0, until a Betty Wolfe double would bring Frady in to score for the Warriors. Unfortunately, that would be all they wrote for your Hendrix Warriors, falling to a score of 1-5.

Sadie Lewis was the pitcher of record, going 1.2 IP with only 3 runs earned. Tori Veith had an incredible closeout of her career on the mound, going 5.1 while only surrendering two hits while adding a strikeout.

The Warriors ended the season 13-24 (4-11), finishing 4th in conference, with both being the best since 2022.
