SB | Warriors Drop Home Series to McMurry

CONWAY - Hendrix began this weekend's series against McMurry with a bang, run-ruling the Hawks 8-0 in a 5-inning affair. But the Warriors were unable to ride the momentum as the WarHawks claimed the series the next day with a Saturday sweep.

Game 1 (W, 8-0)
Gi Robinson (W, 3-0) earned her third winning decision of the year with a 5-inning shutout of the WarHawks. The sophomore tossed 5.0 shutout frames, scattering six hits and striking out one batter on just 49 hitters. In the visitor first, McMurry put runners on the corners with no outs, but Hendrix's infield defense and awareness led to a double play off of an attempted first-and-third play that deflated the air out of the half-inning. Robinson's lone strikeout of the evening delivered the final out of the inning to retire the side.

Rylee Harris and Bell Jaramillo led off the inning with walks, and Kaycee Schoen singled in Harris for the game's opening run. Austynn Caudle then brought in Jaramillo with an RBI ground-out, and Sophia Shuff's two-out double scored Schoen to make it 3-0.

Jaramillo and Schoen both reached scoring position in the bottom third and Caudle ripped a one-out triple to right center field to score the two runners. Caudle herself touched home on the same play off a throwing error on the relay back into the infield to give Hendrix a 6-0 lead.

Harris' one-double in the fourth scored Alyssa Sornia, and Harris eventually touched home on a Jaramillo single to left to put the game in run-rule territory.

Robinson then put the WarHawks down in order in the fifth, including a rare 4-unassisted ground-out to lead off the inning, to secure the run-rule win.

Schoen was the lone Warrior to record multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Game 2 (L, 5-1)
The series was evened after the first half of Saturday's doubleheader as McMurry took advantage of nine walks issued by the Hendrix pitching staff en route to a 5-1 win.

McMurry plated two in the first before Hendrix responded in the next half inning, with Rylee Harris' foul fly-out allowing Bell Jaramillo to score tag up from third to make it 2-1. The WarHawks scored two more in the third and added another in the sixth to end the scoring. The Warriors left two stranded in the second and put two on the bases in the fourth before a 5-3 double play retired the side.

The lead-off batters reached for Hendrix in the fifth and sixth innings but were also left stranded as the Warriors' offensive struggles continued with base-runners in scoring position.

Schoen once again went 2-for-3 to plate, with Peyton Frady also recording a multi-hit game.

Game 3 (L, 10-1)
Game 3 ended in a run-rule win, this time with Hendrix on the receiving end.

McMurry scored the game's first ten runs across the first three innings before Hendrix finally got on the board when Emerson Naismith singled in Emmaline Trosclair for the Warriors' only run of the contest.

McMurry out-hit Hendrix 11-5 over the five innings, with Naismith accounting for of Hendrix's five hits.
