DANVILLE, Ky. — Hendrix College fell to Centre College with a final score of 19-4 on Saturday. The Warriors managed to win 7 faceoffs and recorded 13 saves, but Centre's strong offensive performance secured its victory.
The game began with Centre taking control early as they cruised to an 11-0 start to open the first quarter. Centre won every faceoff in the opening frame and kept Hendrix from mounting any offensive pressure.
The Colonels raced out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter before
Matthew Parsons netted Hendrix's opener with three minutes remaining in the half.
Centre expanded its lead in the third quarter and, despite Hendrix's efforts, including a goal from
Zachary Cox assisted by
Joey Davis at 6:24 and an unassisted goal by
Harrison Briggs at 5:23, the Colonels tamed Hendrix and never let them gain a foothold in the game. It was 18-3 at the end of the third frame.
Hendrix responded in the fourth quarter with a goal by
Joey Davis assisted by
Dominic Vinnola with just under two minutes remaining, but it would be the last time the Warriors found the net on the afternoon.
Cooper Littleton and Kellen Harger combined to make 13 saves in goal.
The Warriors end the season 2-10 and 1-5 in the Southern Athletic Association.
