Craig Barton

Craig Barton

Alma Mater: Arkansas-Little Rock
Seasons: 8th season

Craig Barton was named the diving coach for the men’s and women’s swimming & diving program at Hendrix College in the fall of 2016.

In his first year with the Warriors, Barton coached Bailey Price to a fifth place finish on 1-meter and a sixth place finish on 3-meter at the 2017 SAA Championships.

Barton began coaching for the Warriors after leaving his position in Hot Springs, Ark. where he was the head swim coach for the YMCA Seals and Assistant Aquatics Director. He also taught water aerobics and was a swim instructor. Before his time in Hot Springs, Barton worked several years with Southwest Airlines.

Barton grew up in Conway, Ark. and started competitive diving at a young age. He was on the Conway High School Diving Team, where he became the Arkansas State Champion during the 1992-1993 season. Barton went on to compete collegiately at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he dove from 1993-1995. In 1995, he was forced to retire from diving after battling with a persistent shoulder injury. Barton’s chance to continue competing at the collegiate level was also hindered when UALR announced that they would discontinue the men’s swimming and diving team prior to the start of the 1996 season.
