Junior Stephen Stearman placed third in the shot put and broke his own school record in the hammer throw at the UCA Open on Saturday. Stearman, from Mountainburg, Ark., had a shot put distance of 14.43 meters (47 ft.-4.25 in.). His hammer throw went 42.74 meters (140 ft.-3 in.), placing seventh and besting his old record by 2 ft.-4 in. Stearman has the best shot put mark in the SAA this season, he’s also sixth in discus and seventh in hammer.
