McSheffery led the Warriors to a 7-11 mark on the 2020 season and a 1-2 record in SAA play before the season was cut well short due to the coronavirus pandemic. Hendrix's last win of the year was a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 12 Rhodes; a game in which Jack Hodgins went on to earn SAA Pitcher of the Week honors the next day after picking up his first win of the year and shutting out the nationally-ranked Lynx in Memphis, Tenn.

In just his first year as the head man for the Warriors, Sean McSheffery resurrected the Hendrix Baseball program. Not only did three players earn the weekly SAA Players of the Week honor (Hodgins, Stoyanow, Jorge Leon) but McSheffery guided the Warriors to its first-ever SAA Regular Season Championship; finishing in a two-way tie with BSC but owned the tiebreaker). The Chicago, Ill. native also went on to obtain Coach of the Year at Hendrix's inaugural Hendy Awards banquet. Hendrix finished the season with a 30-14 mark; the 30 wins became a new single-season record for this program.

His duties for the Warriors included serving as the hitting coach, infield coach and recruiting coordinator. In his entirety of coaching, Coach McSheffery has coached 20 players who went on to get drafted professionally including Nate Pearson (the  1st Round pick in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017) and Edwin Rios (the 6th Round pick of the 2015 MLB Draft and the 2016 Minor League Player of the Year recipient).

Former coach in the San Diego Padres organization Sean McSheffery joined the Hendrix College baseball staff as an assistant in 2016.

In his first season, McSheffery coached three All-Region selections and five All-Southern Athletic Association picks.

McSheffery spent two seasons on head coach Turtle Thomas' staff at Florida International University in Miami. in 2015, the Panthers won the Conference USA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Regional.

Prior to his time at FIU, McSheffery spent 2012-14 with the San Diego Padres, working with the Eugene Emeralds, the organization's short season Single A team, and the the AAA affiliate Tucson Padres. He was responsible for assisting day-to-day operations of the clubs and managing scouting reports. McSheffery also worked with infielders, hitters and baserunners.

In 2012, McSheffery was an assistant coach at Phoenix College working with hitters and infielders. In 2011, he was a volunteer assistant at his alma mater - the University of Dallas.

McSheffery has also worked for the Cangelosi Baseball Academy, Oak Forest High School and Chicago Bulls White Sox Academy.

He graduated from the University of Dallas in 2010 with a degree in Business Leadership. He was the Crusaders' team MVP and captain as a senior. He hit .320 during his career with a .970 fielding percentage. McSheffery also played at Phoenix College, where he received his associates degree in Business.
