CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College field hockey team defeated Transylvania University 1-0 in Southern Athletic Association action at Warrior Field on Saturday. With the win, the Warriors move to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in league play. With their fifth shutout of the season, Hendrix sits in second place behind Rhodes College, who is 5-0 in conference, with three games to play.
The only goal of the game came in the 26th minute when sophomore forward Lotte Kraaijenbrink fed a penalty corner pass back to junior defender
Jennifer Koller, who found the back of the cage. The goal was the first of the season for Koller.
The Warriors dominated the Pioneers (1-9, 0-5) in possession with a 14-3 shots advantage and 13-3 edge in penalty corners.
Sophomore keeper Betsy Kelly had one save for Hendrix. Sara Ashbacher recorded one save for TU and Lydia Lee had two defensive stops.
Hendrix will host third place Centre College on Sunday at 11 a.m.
