BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Hendrix College volleyball team lost 25-15, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22 at second place Birmingham-Southern College in Southern Athletic Association competition on Saturday evening.

The host Panthers (12-6, 7-1) hit .173 with 46 kills, four aces, 70 digs and five blocks, while the Warriors (8-13, 3-6) hit .101 with 44 kills, two aces, 72 digs and six blocks.

In the fourth set, which featured 19 ties and eight lead changes, BSC and Hendrix were tied at 20-20, before the Panthers went on a 5-2 run to take the set and the match.

Senior middle blocker Melissa Clement led the Warriors with 12 kills, four blocks and hit .323. Clement now has a career kill total of 1,213, 17 away from Becca Clancy's (2007-10) record of 1,230.

Junior outside hitter Katie Burchfield had 11 kills and 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Freshman setter Breanna Wright registered 28 assists and a season-high 10 digs for her first collegiate double-double. Senior Katie Bates and freshman Shannon Abbot added nine kills each. Freshman libero Jill Sikes came up with 24 digs, moving her streak to six consecutive matches with 20 digs or more.

Alex Bothe paced the Panthers with 12 kills to go with 10 digs and Katie O'Bar, Meredith Lee and Kelly Foster each had nine kills. Lauren Reibe recorded 39 assists and 22 digs.

Hendrix will travel to Little Rock on Tuesday for two matches at Philander Smith College.
