FULTON, Mo. - The Hendrix College men's basketball lost to Westminster College 91-60 in their season opener at the Tip-Off Classic on Friday. The host Blue Jays (1-0) built a big first half lead by shooting 56 percent (18-of-32), going into the break with a 54-28 advantage.
Westminster also went 6-of-10 from behind the arc and made all 12 free throw attempts in the opening period.
For the game, the Blue Jays shot 52 percent (29-of-56) from the field, 50 percent from three-point range (11-of-22) and went 22-of-30 from the free throw line. The Warriors (0-1) shot 43 percent (23-of-53), but struggled from outside, going 1-of-12 from three-point range. Hendrix was also 13-of-21 from the line.
Hendrix committed 20 turnovers, while Westminster only had 11, but the Warriors had a 33-31 rebound advantage.

Colton Primm led Hendrix with 16 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore forward
Luke Vance recorded career-highs with 13 points and eight boards. Senior guard
Jaren Riley added 11 points and three assists and sophomore guard
Andy Gram scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds.
Robbie Burroughs came off the bench to lead the Blue Jays with 16 points. Joe James added 14 and Jordan Jones scored 12. Joe Prophet and Skylar Tolson chipped in 11 points each.
Hendrix will wrap up the Classic with Greenville College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
