Riley's 33 Boosts Warriors over Eagles

CONWAY, Ark. – Hendrix College senior guard Jaren Riley scored a career-high 33 points, and made seven 3-pointers, one of the school record, to lead the Warriors (1-2) to a 70-60 victory over the University of the Ozarks at Grove Gymnasium on Tuesday. Junior forward Colton Primm complemented Riley's performance with 16 points and 15 rebounds, giving Hendrix their first win of the year.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick 14-4 lead over the first 5:21 of the contest. The Eagles (1-3) fought back to cut the advantage to 26-25 at the 4:01 mark, but the Warriors went into the break with a 33-29 lead.

A three-pointer by Riley with 10:26 left in the game put Hendrix up 56-45. Ozarks answered with a 7-0 run to make the game 56-52 over the next two minutes. However, Hendrix finished the game by outscoring Ozarks 14-8 to win by 10.

For the game, the Warriors shot 44 percent (26-of-59) from the field, 53 percent (9-of-17) from behind the arc and went 9-of-13 from the free throw line. The Eagles shot 40 percent (24-of-60) from the field and just 17 percent (2-of-12) from three-point range.

Along with his 33 points, Riley dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds. Sophomore forward Luke Vance came off the bench for 12 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Jordan Taulton dished out five assists and senior center Dayton Sheridan had four points, five boards and two blocks.

Marcus Bobb led the Eagles with 19 points and Jeremy Victory scored 11 off the bench. Isaiah Boxell recorded eight assists.

Hendrix will compete in the Rhodes College Thanksgiving Classic in Memphis, Tenn., beginning with Rust on Saturday.
