MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team suffered a 74-46 defeat to Rhodes College in the program's first Southern Athletic Association game at Mallory-Hyde Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The host Lynx (2-3, 1-0) scored 22 points off of 17 Warrior (2-4, 0-1) turnovers and shot 59 percent (30-of-51) for the game.
Rhodes opened the game with an 11-1 over the first four minutes to take control early. The Lynx went on to lead 40-22 at halftime.
After shooting 55 percent in the first period, Rhodes was even hotter in the second half, hitting 64 percent (14-of-22) of their attempts.
On the night, Hendrix shot 36 percent (17-of-47) from the floor and went 3-of-16 from three-point range. The Lynx went 4-of-13 from outside. Rhodes also had a 31-21 rebound advantage.
Freshman guard
Jordan Barrett came off the bench to lead the Warriors with nine points in five minutes of action. Sophomore forward
Luke Vance had eight points, four rebounds, one block and a teal. Senior guard
Jaren Riley added five points.
Geoff Livsey led the Lynx with 16 points and Andrew Gallow had 14. Tate Sledge went 6-for-6 from the field, good for 13 points off the bench and Theo Hartwell chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.
Hendrix will take on Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss. on Monday.
