Warriors Bounce 'Roos 71-65

CONWAY, Ark. - Senior guard Jaren Riley scored 22 points and junior forward Colton Primm scored a career-best 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Hendrix College men's basketball team to a 71-65 victory over Austin College at Buzz Bolding Arena on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Warriors improved to 3-5, while the Kangaroos drop to 1-9.

Austin led 24-16 with 5:11 left in the first half. The Warriors ended the opening period on a 13-5 run to tie the game at 29-29 headed into the break. With 11:51 remaining in the game, the 'Roos led 48-42. Hendrix fought back to take a 51-50 lead on a Primm layup at the 8:14 mark. The Warriors maintained the advantage throughout the rest of the game, expanding the lead to as much as seven.

For the game, Hendrix shot 39 percent (22-of-57), went 7-of-22 from three-point territory and 20-of-26 at the free throw line. Austin shot 46 percent (24-of-52) overall, 4-of-12 from outside and 13-of-24 at the line. The Warriors also had a 38-35 rebound advantage.

Along with his 22 points, Riley added five rebounds and three assists. Sophomore forward Luke Vance tied his career-best with 13 points to go with nine boards and three steals. Freshman guard Jordan Taulton registered three assists and three steals.

The 'Roos were led by Antoine Thompson's 17 points to go with seven rebounds off the bench. Alvin Michael scored 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting and had eight rebounds and five blocks. Alen Michael scored 14 points and dished out four assists and Ransom Okpala had eight points and five assists.

Hendrix and Austin will play again on Tuesday in Sherman, Texas.
