SHERMAN, Texas – The Hendrix College women's basketball lost to Austin College 46-39 on the road at Hughey Gym on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors (0-10) struggled offensively, shooting just 22 percent (12-of-54) from the field. The host Kangaroos (5-7) managed to shot 33 percent (16-of-49) from the game.
Austin took a 29-21 lead into halftime, but Hendrix opened the second period on an 8-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from freshman guard
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler to tie the game 29-29 with 13:56 remaining. The 'Roos led 36-33 with 6:17 left and followed with a 10-1 run over the next four minutes to put the game out of reach.
The Warriors also went 5-of-19 from three-point range and 10-of-16 from the free throw line. The 'Roos went 5-of-18 from outside and 9-of-14 at the stripe. Hendrix had a 42-38 rebound advantage.
Junior center
Jamie Tate led Hendrix with 13 points and 16 rebounds for her third consecutive double-double. Kriesel-Bigler added 12 points and six assists.
Erin Riley paced Austin with 11 points and six boards off the bench. Christina Kime chipped in 10 points and dished out four assists off the bench as well.
Hendrix will be off until Dec. 29 when they take on LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.
