RICHMOND, Ind. – The Hendrix College field hockey team picked up their first win of the season, topping Earlham College 3-0 at Darrell Beane Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Three different players scored for the Warriors (1-1) and junior defender Elizabeth Lancaster dished out two assists in the victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Betsy Kelly recorded two saves for her school record ninth career shutout.
The Warriors outshot the Quakers (0-1) 16-3 and had a 13-2 shots on goal advantage.
Senior defender Maggie DesPain opened the scoring just 3:41 into the game on a pass from Lancaster. Sophomore midfielder Dani Coley found the cage for her first career goal in the 31st minute with an assist from Lancaster. Sophomore Erika Jasso added a final goal in the 41st minute.
Emma Treece recorded 10 saves in goal for Earlham.
Hendrix will wrap up their Midwest trip at Ohio Wesleyan on Monday.
