CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College volleyball team lost in their home opener to Millsaps College at Grove Gymnasium in Southern Athletic Association action on Friday night. The visiting Majors (7-2, 1-1) swept the Warriors (3-7, 1-1) 25-22, 25-16, 25-22.

After falling in the first two sets, Hendrix fell behind 19-10 in the third. The Warriors then rattled off a 12-3 run, to cut the lead to 23-22, before the Majors finished the match with the final two points.

Millsaps hit .368 with 48 kills, six aces, 47 digs and five blocks. Hendrix hit .211 with 41 kills, three aces, 45 digs and three blocks.

Sophomore middle blocker Carson Hunters set new career-highs with 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage to go with two blocks for the Warriors. Senior middle blocker Melissa Clement had 12 kills and hit .588 and senior right side Katie Bates added seven kills. Freshman libero Jill Sikes led the defense with 10 digs.

Caroline McKey paced the Majors with 12 kills and 11 digs. Raven Scott just missed a triple-double with 10 kills, 18 assists and nine digs. Kasey Laird had 11 kills, hit .476 and recorded seven digs and three blocks.

Hendrix will take on Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
