MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Hendrix College volleyball team lost 25-14, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22 at Berry College in Southern Athletic Association action on Friday night. With the loss, the Warriors fall to 3-9 and 1-3 in league play, while the Vikings improve to 9-3 and 3-1.

After falling in the first set 25-14, Hendrix rebounded to hit .542 with 16 kills to take the second 25-22. Berry won the third game 25-16, but the Warriors were up 21-19 in the fourth, before the Vikings went on a 6-1 rally to end the match.

Berry hit .355 with 60 kills, 10 aces, 40 digs and four blocks. Hendrix hit .340 with 49 kills, three aces, 27 digs and four blocks.

Senior middle blocker Melissa Clement led the Warriors with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to go with three total blocks. Junior outside hitter Katie Burchfield had 11 kills and seven digs and senior right side Katie Bates tied her season high with nine kills and hit .400. Junior setter Zoe Calhoun had 32 assists and six digs and freshman Jill Sikes tallied seven digs.

Emily Stromberg paced the Vikings with 15 kills and made just two errors to hit .650 and also came up with nine digs. Kelsey Lochstampfor had 14 kills and Gretchen Kaufman added 10. Stephanie Quinn assisted 39 points and served five aces.

Hendrix will travel to Oglethorpe University for another conference match on Saturday.
