MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Hendrix College field hockey team suffered their first Southern Athletic Association loss of the season to Rhodes College on the road Saturday afternoon. The Lynx (4-2, 3-0) won the contest 2-1, dropping the Warriors to 4-2 and 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Lynx scored in the 39th minute when Katie Faucher found the cage with an assist from Kat Simpson. Simpson assisted Kate Taylor's goal in the 51st minute to put the Lynx up 2-0.
Hendrix sophomore midfielder Dani Coley broke the shutout in the 63rd minute on an assist from junior defender
Jennifer Koller.
Jordan Robinson came up with three saves for Rhodes. The Lynx led in penalty corners 12-3. Hendrix sophomore keeper Betsy Kelly had seven saves. Junior defender Elizabeth Lancaster had two defensive saves and Koller added one.
Hendrix will return home on Sept. 29 when they host conference foe Sewanee.
